Biographical Statement:
Christian Pfister is currently deputy director general for Economics and International Relations at the Banque de France. Previously, he held various positions in the Banque de France, notably as head of the Monetary Policy Analysis Unit (1994-1996), deputy director for Monetary Analysis and Statistics (1996-2000), director for Economic Analysis and Research (2000-2005) and director for Research (2005-2008). He also spent two years at the European Commission in Brussels as a “seconded expert” in the Directorate for Monetary Affairs (1987-1989). He has participated in various committees, such as the Monetary Policy Sub-Committee of the EEC Central Bank Governors and then of the European Monetary Institute (1991-1998), the Monetary Policy Committee of the European Central Bank (2000-2008) and the Heads of Research of the Eurosystem (2002-2008). He has published in the fields of monetary policy, European economic and financial integration, financial stability, savings and structural policies. He teaches monetary policy at the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE).
