Stefan Schneider is Chief German Economist and Head of German Macroeconomics Research Deutsche Bank Research in Frankfurt since November 2013. Born in Marburg in the state of Hesse, Germany, in 1960, Stefan Schneider moved into the economists‘ world by entering the economics department of Philipps University in his home town. In 1987, after only four years – remarkably quick by German standards – and equipped with an honors’ degree, he started his professional career at Deutsche Bank’s Economics Department in Frankfurt, as German Economist. After getting to grips with the German economy, he moved on to London in 1991 to become European Economist at Nomura Research Institute. His transfer back to Frankfurt in 1992 made him Chief Economist at Nomura Research Institute Deutschland. A further career move led him 1994 to S.G. Warburg’s Frankfurt branch, again as Chief Economist. A year later he was offered the post of Chief German Economist at Banque Paribas in Frankfurt. In 1998 he became the Chief European Economist. After nine years of absence he was asked to rejoin Deutsche Bank in 2000 as Chief International Economist and Head of Macro Trends at Deutsche Bank Research. Stefan Schneider is Chair of the Association of German Banks’ Economic and Monetary Policy Committee.
